After an old woman voted, she broke into dancing as she walked away with a sense of achievement and success.

At all the polling centres visited in Benin City and Okada Town, voting commenced peaceful and orderly.

However, a members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Ikaladerhan Primary School, Ovia North East, Okada Town, accused the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) of intimidation. The member who asked to be unidentified said that by locating An ACN billboard a few metres away from the polling centre, the ACN is guilty of intimidation.

The PDP also accused the ACN of buying votes from some of their members.
“Oshiomhole na

A mild drama ensued when an elderly woman at a polling centre in Okada Town, collected a ballot paper, dipped her thumb in the ink pad and got set to thumb print; she suddenly stopped. Afterwards, she complained to the security official standing by, that though she intended to vote for broom and had seen the picture of the broom, she could not find the picture of the person the broom represented. Pushed to let the security man know who she wanted to vote for, she retorted: "Oshiomhole na."

It took a lot of convincing for the elderly lady to accept the broom and Adams Oshimhole, the incumbent as one. After she voted, she broke into dancing as she walked away with a sense of achievement and success.

At Ozolua Primary School, voting has ended in two of the four polling booths. However, the officials say counting would be delayed till the official closing time of 4pm.

All the accredited voters in the remaining polling units will soon complete voting
