Bus driver dies in pit latrine in Lagos

Tragedy befell the residents of No 7
Alimotu Sadia street, Cele, Lagos when
one of the occupants of the house,
Mr. Mutiu Owo fell inside a pit latrine
and died yesterday morning
The deceased was a commercial bus
driver plying Ikeja-Obalende route,
Lagos State.
Narrating the incident, his neighbour
Prophet Soji Ademuyiwa of Celestial
Church Ogudu Parish, Lagos said the
driver, an indigene of Ekiti State, fell
inside the pit latrine in an attempt to
ease himself in the early hours of
yesterday morning. The driver was
said to have sank because of the
heavy rainfall at that time.
The prophet said the driver who was a
father of two, wanted to take his bath
but when he found out that a co-
tenant was bathing, he went to ease
himself in another toilet, which was
dilapidated.
The tenants of the house where the
incident occurred claimed that they
had complained about the life
threatening state of their house and
latrine to their landlady, who lives
outside the neighbourhood but all
pressure to make her fix it and make
it habitable was met with brick walls as
she kept postponing the repairs.
It was also gathered that the condition
of the toilet worsened this morning
after the heavy rain.
The house of Owoh was besieged by
neighbours and sympathisers, as they
troop in to console the widowed wife,
who sells fruits at Alade Market, Ikeja
Lagos, while the remains of the driver
has been removed from the latrine.
