Dame Patience Jonathan Discharged, Set To Return Home Today

Nigeria’s First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan is
expected back in Nigeria today after her doctors
have said she’s healthy enough to leave.
Patience Jonathan has been away receiving
treatment for several weeks at the Horst Schmidt
Klinik in Germany for an undisclosed ailment.
A source said the ailing first lady demanded to be
discharged, and the hospital accepted her
request, though she was yet to fully recuperate.
The source added that she left the hospital
around 11 a.m. and was taken to an undisclosed
location by senior authorities of the Nigerian
Embassy in Germany.
Reports say a source at the presidency confirmed
the first lady’s discharge, adding that Mrs
Jonathan’s health had improved, and that she is
fit to return to the country.
Arrangements have reportedly been put in place
to receive the first lady at the Nnamdi Azikwe
International Airport, Abuja at about 2 p.m. today
by top government officials.
“I can confirm to you that the First Lady is set to
return to the country tomorrow at about 2 p.m. I
can also tell you that the wives of state
governors, politicians, and other well-wishers are
now in Abuja to give her a rousing welcome,” the
presidential source said.
Dame Patience Jonathan was earlier billed to
return home last week, but her doctors didn’t
release her then, as they said there were still
worries about her health.
